A note from this season of life…

Hi!

Welcome to my first official Events by Emily blog post. What a great day to publish it too! Today marks one year from my husband and my wedding reception. Trey and I originally were married in a very private ceremony in December of 2024, even though we already had booked a venue, DJ, catering, photo, etc. for a big wedding in the following August. We decided that a private winter wedding was the dream scenario for us, then we threw one heck of a party on August 16, 2025 (one year ago today!!!).

Soooo… why a blog?

For those who have been there alongside the journey for a while, you may know that I’ve tried a lot of different ventures, a lot of different types of jobs, and have learned a LOT on the way. I’ve mixed blizzards, front desk at a hotel, worked at BK, was AGM of a restaurant at one point… it’s been a blur. With that, the one thing that I’m so very proud of is my work ethic and how much I feel like that shined this past year. My business has grown exponentially, I continue learning new things during each and every event, and I’m always trying to be better. I very recently started a new job, which has me feeling inspired and creative every single day.

Personally and professionally, I have put a lot of time into bettering myself in every way that I know how. I am always trying to find new routines that work for me, sometimes failing those same routines, getting back into them again… buying a house, finding a career, starting a business, getting married, pregnancy, and now having a baby and starting our own family. I’ve come a long way and would love to put what I’ve learned into something that could (maybe) help someone else if they stumble upon my little corner of the internet.

I think having a series with different prompts would be iconic (cannot promise how often this will be) about weddings, my personal life, graphic design, etc. I figured, well… I have always loved journaling and I loveeee a chat, so why not start this? I also think it’d be a great way for people to get to know me, learn how my brain works, and hopefully teach something along the way.

- A note from this season of life -

I think that everyone is as busy as ever right now… Prices for groceries and gas are insane, people are just trying to keep it together as best as they can. Pretty much everyone that I know has at least two jobs… For me personally, this year has by far been the most insane one of my life. I have changed more in the past twelve months than I ever thought was possible.

One year ago today, Trey and I had a wedding reception with the best people. Six days from now will be exactly one year from finding out that I was pregnant. We were quite shocked, but my husband and I both knew we were ready for this adventure together.

Those nine months of pregnancy felt like an eternity, but now I find myself holding my belly for comfort and wishing I could go back to that feeling of being pregnant: the feeling of always knowing our baby is safe because he was with me.

Now, it already feels like I was pregnant a million years ago. I could actually cry at the idea of it all and how fast it’s all gone. We waited, and waited, and waited for so long for our April due date to arrive and now it’s already August again! Time is going way too fast and it freaks me out. Time truly is a thief.

All I have left to say for this blog post is… what a blessing having a baby is. What. An absolute. Blessing. We are so lucky. I’m sitting on my couch typing this while I’m looking over at Trey and our little (almost) four month old, and I’ve never seen anything more perfect. More often than not, I wish I could bottle these perfect, precious moments up into a bottle and live in it forever. All of the firsts… his first night at home, his first bath, first smile, first laugh, first time going to the store, and so much more… It feels like every moment has another first, which is always reminding me to live in the moment.

As busy as life gets, there is nothing that can beat this point of our lives and I will cherish where I am at for as long as humanly possible.

See you in the next one! With so very much love,
